New Testament World
Course Description
8-week hybrid course. A study of the social, political, religious and geographical settings of Jesus' life and ministry, the early church and the Jewish people in the Greco-Roman world and their relevance today. The course explores the world of the New Testament through its history and primary sources such as its civic documents, literature, art, numismatics, and archaeological remains. The course examines Scripture and the church in their original historical contexts to inform all aspects of ministry and missions today. Knowing the parallels between the ancient world and our own fosters understanding of how the gospel and New Testament teachings speak to the world’s deepest needs and problems today as they did then.
